Final Porocity Lens Video

Tutorial of Opacity Blocks

While I was doing this course, I tended to focus on the model and environment in crysis war sandbox. However, by performing this assignment I could obtain a good understanding of people’s interacting within places and architectures through some of flowgraphs Most of time was spent in researching other flowgraphs but they were not really specified on the websites I went. Still, I have found great tips while I was researching and helped me a lot in creating nice environment and inspiring the idea and aspect of this assignment.

The tutorial subject I have chosen is an opacity block flowgraph, that could show people’s movement as in a demographic. To understand and follow Opacity block flowgraph took awhile, even though it was given. That is why the tutorial is very long compare to others. I was impressed by looking at the screen which was showing what opacity block was in some lecture. So I thought I would use this for my assignment and made a tutorial for it. This tutorial will also show a different style of exporting sketchup model to sandbox2; We usually export the model after enable collision but not in this tutorial.

The opacity block flowgraph will generally present the movement of people as the block goes softer when people go through. This demonstrates which direction or place is frequent and which direction or place is rarely visited.

In EXP1 and EXP2 of my work, it has a few similar and different things. Both is explored in a wide open place and enviroment, but different thing is in EXP2, 3 factors are interacting together as in place, environment and people.

Through this tutorial, I have reviewed and learned many ideas and concept I should inscribe in my mind. Also, I noticed a lot of sense of interacting within people, environment and architecture and place. I hope the tutorial I made will help to understand the concept of this experiment.

Porosity Lens Brief

Instead of using all the given railway object, I tried to make a station and added some rail objects from the given one for my porosity lens. The design of the station was from Chatswood Station which is really architectural and modern. The idea of my environment was from the picture of somewhere at Bondi beach that I took. Reasons why I chose the environment of Bondi is that it has amazing views, a variety of types of geographical features and my longing for bondi. Therefore, I chose Chatswood station for my object since I live here.

Firstly, for my Porosity Lens, I will be using emitter to navigate the movement in my environment. This node is a semiautomatic. This means you can track by particles the person drops while walking, but the key button has to be pressed constantly while the person moves or even stops. This will only show where the person when and how long the person stays at a certain area.
Second node that I will be using for the video is opacity blocks. This is somewhat different from an emitter that opacity blocks show how many time people go through a certain direction.
The last node I will be using is an AIGoto. This will show a demographic “real time” understanding of how people move in a certain environment.

Nodes & SWOT

1. Emitter

My first chosen flowgraph is the emitter. This could track people wherever they go.
When people walk it stains the particle.

2. Goto

AI moves towards to a certain position.

flowgraph to make an AI walks to the postition or even can make them smoke or work

3. Opacity Blocks

Emitter

Strength: The strength of the emitter flowgraph is that the flowgraph is really easy to understand and perform in crysis war sandbox.

Weakness: The weekness of the emitter flowgraph is that you have to press button while performing as in walking or running to leave the particle behind.

Opportunity: The opportunity of the emitter flowgraph is that you can have various particles you want.

Threat: You always have to remember to press the button you choose in a flowgraph

AIGoto

Strength: The strength of the AIGoto flowgraph is that flowgrpah itself is very effective to understand how people move and do action in crysis.

Weakness: The weakness of the AIGoto flowgraph is that this flowgraph is too simple and can’t do a variety of actions.

Opportunity: The opportunity of the AIGoto flowgraph is that it is easy way to control AI so this can suit for performing the video in a small area.

Threat: there are a few similar node like AIGoto.

Opactiy Block

Strength: The strength of the Opacity Block flowgraph is that it is a logical version of emitter yet it is different and emitter itself is also very logical.

Weakness: The weakness of the Opacity Block flowgraph is that it is little complicated to understand and have to spend a lot of time.

Opportunity: The opportunity of the Opacity Block flowgraph is that you can create the block what you want and use where ever you want

Threat: it is limited to use this flowgraph since the block covers your environment and architecture.
